Description
For four generations the Hoekstra's have produced potatoes on the rich sandy soils of eastern Kankakee County in Illinois. Today, we at Hoekstra Potato Farms are continuing in that tradition by concentrating on producing high quality potatoes for the chipping market. Our harvest begins mid-July and extends through October. Commitment to quality has always been a priority at Hoekstra Potato Farms. Our production practices of using irrigation along with an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) program has allowed us to produce high quality potatoes in an efficient and environmentally sound manner. Our commitment to quality is evident at our grading facility as well as in the field. In our newly installed lab, we cook potato chip samples to check for quality. That way we can be certain that every load shipped meets our customers requirements. In addition to Potato Farming, Hoekstra Potato Farms works closely with our family trucking operation. In the mid eighties the business had an opportunity to diversify and purchase a truck and a small paper hauling contract. This was the seed of what has grown to become Hoekstra Transportation . Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about the history of Hoekstra Potato Farms and we welcome you to our website and invite you contact us if you have any additional questions regarding any of our products or services.
