Holly Spring Homespun first opened her doors April 17th, 2004 in the historical village of Powhatan. It houses a very different assortment of fine yarns including wool, silk, alpaca, cotton, soy, bamboo, sock and novelties from such suppliers as Brown Sheep, Tahki Stacy Charles, Dale of Norway, Knit One Crochet Too, Crystal Palace, Frog Tree, Tilli Tomas, Lily Chin, Knitting Fever, Manos Del Uruguay and many more. We are the only yarn shop in the area that has its own line of hand painted yarn and original patterns called Scarlet Fleece. And we are also the only yarn shop in the greater Richmond area offering spinning wheels, drop spindles and supplies from Majacraft, Schacht-Reeves, Grafton Fibers and roving including our own hand painted roving. We also feature needlefelting kits and supplies. Kathy, staff and regular customers during a recent book signing with knitting book author Wendy Johnson. Visiting the shop is a fun experience. When knitting groups come it is like a fiber party, many sharing ideas and finds with each other. And you are always given a warm greeting and generous help with projects. I can't run the shop without some very talented help. Alice Coppa is very knowledgeable in knitting crocheting and spinning, and you will often see her with one of her creations on. And Ginni Nichols offers her computer expertise as she helps to keep the website up to date. And she is a wonderful knitter and spinner as well. Here she is with Scarlet, one of our shop dogs...
