National Talk Like a Pirate Day Practice Contest Winners Announced Arrrrr! We be announcin' the winners of our Talk Like a Pirate Practice Contest! Music in Motion, Music For Little Mozart Classes Return October 7 If it ’s October, then it ’s time to get back to class …for the youngest musicians among us! Teacher Abby Buse is anxious to introduce your child to the wonderful world of music through these classes designed especially for the very young student. Toddlers (age 18 months to 3 years) taking our Music in Motion class will enjoy lots of singing, listening, movement, and rhythm activities at a level appropriate to their development. Two sessions are being offered: Thursdays from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. Classes begin on October 7 and 8 respectively. Older preschoolers in our Music for Little Mozarts class will join Beethoven Bear, Mozart Mouse, and their musical friends for many exciting adventures in the classroom and Music Center . Written to provide appropriate classroom instruction for children four to six years old, the Music for Little Mozarts curriculum is a comprehensive approach to musical learning that develops singing, movement, and listening skills and introduces a variety of musical styles and concepts. Classroom materials combine to create an exciting and imaginative atmosphere that will make learning about music fun. Hometown Music is offering two Music for Little Mozart sessions: Thursdays from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:30 – 11:00 a.m., also beginning October 7 and 8 respectively.Teacher Abby looks forward to sharing either of these enriching musical experiences with your child. Hometown Music Welcomes New Piano & Voice Teacher Hometown Music is proud to welcome Nicole Leake to our teaching staff! A 2007 graduate of Hannibal LaGrange College in St. Louis, Missouri with a degree in choral music education, Nikki specializes in beginning piano and vocal instruction. A private music instructor since 2005, she has also performed with the sextet vocal group Covenant while a college student, and has led congregational singing at her local church. She has been a piano student since 1990 and a vocal student since her freshman year of high school. Nikki especially loves working with young children. Currently teaching lessons at Hometown Music on Thursdays, she is available now to help students gain a solid musical foundation. Please see us at the front desk to enroll your child today! Hometown Summer Recital a Smash! The summer heat didn ’t keep families and friends away from the Hometown Music Summer Recital held out at the Huntingburg Events Center Gazebo on Saturday, July 31. An estimated 100 or so folks braved high temperatures to come out and hear some great music performed by the students.
