Description
Hook's Drugs came into existence in 1900, at the hands of John A. Hook. At age 19 he had graduated from the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy with two undergraduate degrees and was managing a drug store in Indianapolis. After six months he resigned to open his own store in the city's German neighborhood. One store eventually became a chain of nearly 400 throughout the region. The chain was passed down to his son, August F. "Bud" Hook who served as President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Hook's. Hook's Drugs was eventually sold in the mid-80's, becoming part of the Revco chain, which in turn became part of the even larger CVS Pharmacies. One century after John Hook opened his first store, his great-grandchildren opened Hook's Apothecary in Evansville, IN. Hook's Apothecary is the first store of its kind in Southwestern Indiana. You won't find mass manufactured drug products, prescription or over-the-counter, as you would in other pharmacies. The pharmacists at Hook's specialize in compounding, the customization of medications, to meet a specific patient's needs. Feel free to stop by the store anytime if you believe we may be able to help in any way.
