In order to quote every line item on an order, we sell both Original Equipment and Non-Original Equipment (OEM and Non-OEM, respectively) manufactured products. Our Non-OEM sourcing gives us our competitive edge. This "one-stop shopping" makes doing business with Hooks attractive to customer procurement groups, and when packaged with field and administrative services, Hooks' manner of conducting business became the standard against which other vendors were measured. The original "10,000,000 parts" theme that Hooks promoted turned out to be a prelude to current market themes. Hooks anticipated, and was therefore prepared for, the market trends of downsizing, outsourcing, re-engineering, single-sourcing, and integrated supply. These were seen as efforts to reduce procurement costs and create better economics for both the vendor and the end-user.
