Andy and Amy Popkin believed so much in their passion of collecting china that they created their very own store, Hot Plates, in historic, New Hope, Pennsylvania. Their enthusiasm began while the two were still in college. It all started when they stumbled upon a company offering to buy discontinued sets of china. From there, Amy and Andy headed out to local auctions and yard sales to seek lost treasures of grandma’s old gravy boats and other fun items. “Sometimes, we’d buy a set of china and one piece we’d make a nice profit, while the others were worth pennies. Soon, we’d amassed a mixed up set of odds and ends,” says Amy.
