Description

Located in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington DC, the Hotel Lombardy lies in an area named for the misty marshes that once lined the Potomac riverfront. The federal government first broke ground here in 1800, and during the 19th century, Foggy Bottom was a working-class neighborhood that attracted many of the nation's early immigrants and laborers. Originally built around 1926, as an ornate private residence, the Hotel Lombardy has long been an alluring downtown Washington DC area hotel. Here on Pennsylvania Avenue, the building bore witness to the sometimes tumultuous, but always eventful, world of Washington D.C. Surviving such watershed moments as the Great Depression and World War II, the Hotel Lombardy was renovated and transformed into a hotel in 1994. Our downtown hotel's beautifully preserved red-brick and limestone facade - as well as our European and Oriental art and relics -- point toward a spectacular history. But our modern features and amenities make us a truly unique downtown Washington DC metro area hotel.
