Charles Houska Colorful, bold, intense art that commands attention and triggers a smile that's the essence of artist Charles E. Houska's work. Inspired by such famous artists as Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, Houska creates his own pop-art style, using a whimsical cast of characters and bright colors, bordered "obsessively" by black lines. Located in the "hip" central west-end of St. Louis, Houska St. Louis showcases Houska's original artwork and merchandise. The energy of the gallery spills out into the streets, where passers-by have no choice but to look. The gallery features Houska's acrylic-on-canvas paintings, as well as his merchandise line, called Houskadoodles, which includes magnets, t-shirts and greeting cards. The second floor of the gallery houses Houska Gallery, a collection of artwork from up-and-coming modern and contemporary artists.
