Natural horsemanship training is a perfect fit for the Pleasure Walking Horse. Correctly trained, they have the inherent ability to perform their breed's signature gaits within their conformational structure. Some may take a little more patience, but they can each find it. The "natural" philosophy is to train the horse, not give him crutches. He must carry himself in balanced and natural carriage, not be framed up or held in. At Howe They Walk Farm, we help each horse find their gaits, NOT manufacture gait using the wide variety of "appliances" so often seen in other training barns. We teach the horse where, within his own posture to find his natural gait; then help him return to that posture again and again until he understands that this is the carriage we want and feels comfortable with it.
