Hoyt Arboretum Friends (HAF) is a member-supported, nonprofit organization working in partnership with Portland Parks & Recreation to provide leadership, advocacy and sustainable resources to Hoyt Arboretum. HAF is dedicated to supporting Hoyt Arboretum’s plant collection and to providing education about plant ecosystems, gardening and conservation. The group coordinates volunteer efforts and provides critical financial support for Hoyt Arboretum operations, maintenance and capital improvements.

Hoyt Herbarium and Arboretum is an easily accessible regional taxonomic resource for the scientists of multiple agencies in the greater Portland Metro Area. We provide plant identification services and share our inventory of herbarium specimens for research and with primary and advanced educators, visitors and students.

At Hoyt Arboretum, every tree has a story to tell. Founded in 1928 to conserve endangered species and educate the community, Hoyt Arboretum encompasses 187 ridge-top acres, accessible by 12 miles of hiking trails. A place of beauty and serenity in all seasons, Hoyt Arboretum is easily accessible from anywhere in the Portland metropolitan area by car, bus or the MAX light rail. You will also find parking, restroom facilities, ADA accessible trails and ADA parking at or near the Visitor Center.
