This is the "real deal" a truly unique opportunity to fish on the Nushagak River, agreeably the world's most productive salmon river. Located in the Bristol Bay region, we're Alaska's premier bush camp. We are not about salmon fishing, we're about salmon catching. From June through August the Nushagak is home to one of the strongest runs of King (Chinook) Salmon in Alaska. These wild native fish have a reputation for being very aggressive and extremely strong fighters. The Kings average around 30 lbs. with larger fish weighing in excess of 50 lbs. Along with the King run comes our favorite fly rod salmon the Chum (Dog). These fish are lightning fast and into the backing instantly, they're very strong and challenging to hook (bring your 8wt and a reel with a good drag). As the King run starts to taper off in late July the Coho (Silver) Salmon arrive along with Sockeye (Red) and Pink (Humpback) Salmon, and provide spectacular fly fishing through August. The Coho is known as the most acrobatic of the Pacific Salmon. These fish average in size from 10 to 16 lbs. and are excellent table fare. For diversion there's a resident population of Northern Pike, Dolly Varden, Grayling, and Rainbow Trout. If you have a pent up desire to catch Salmon until you can't hold the rod any longer, this is the place for you. Fishing on the Nushagak is equally good from the bank or by boat.
