Description

Dr. Agosta is a Vice President at the Human Services Research Institute and has worked with people with disabilities for over 30 years. Dr. Agosta completed his doctorate in Rehabilitation Research at the University of Oregon, specializing in research methods and community supports for people with disabilities. Additionally, he has extensive experience with community supports, having worked in direct services and administrative positions within agencies offering early intervention, residential, vocational, or family support services.

Measuring the Promise: A Compendium of Recovery Measures, Volume II has three specific aims: 1. To provide the adult mental health field with research-and evaluation-based perspectives on the nature of recovery. 2. To provide a resource of current recovery and recovery-related instruments for adult mental health system stakeholders to use in research and evaluation particularly towards the end of identifying evidence-based practices. 3. To provide stakeholders with a detailed summary of the key characteristics of each instrument in an easy to follow format.

The reach and depth of quality assurance and quality improvement in public human services systems has been greatly expanded given increases in technology, adoption of the principles of continuous quality improvement, and the exigencies of a growing and complex network of community services and supports.

Peer support is when individuals with similar interests and/or life experiences offer mutual assistance. In Peer Support Networks, individuals unite voluntarily to help one another by offering mutual support and sharing resources. They are complementary to the public services available to individuals with developmental disabilities. Such networks can be composed of individuals with disabilities, family members or both. A coordinator is needed to advise and organize the Network, though it should ultimately be shaped by the needs and preferences of its members.

The Child and Family Services (CFS) Team at HSRI provides program evaluation, performance monitoring, quality assurance, strategic planning, training and technical assistance to child-serving agencies with the ultimate goal of promoting best practice in supporting vulnerable children and families. For children at risk of abuse or neglect, youth aging out of the foster care system, and families struggling to stay together and deal with the challenges of poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, and domestic violence, HSRI seeks to improve safety net of social policies and programs.
