Hudson River Center for Program Development, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Dr. Barbara E. Smith in response to a growing need for curricula and training resources in the adult education field. Since its founding, Hudson River Center's activities and areas of specialty have grown substantially, to include family literacy, corrections education, alcohol and substance abuse, English language and civics education and protection from harm.
