Welcome to humanserviceagency.org, Internet home of HSA Behavioral Health and ATCO. We are located in Watertown, South Dakota. HSA is a unique service organization in that we are both a community mental health center and an adjustment training center. We annually serve more than 2000 people who are affected by mental illness, chemical dependency, compulsive gambling, mental retardation or other developmental disabilities. We serve adults who are diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances and people with mild to severe mental retardation and other developmental disorders. The major divisions of the agency are Behavioral Health and ATCO. At this site, you can learn about the different programs and services we provide or check out the employment opportunities at the Human Service Agency. In 1962, the Human Service Agency opened its doors as the Lake Region Mental Health Center. Over the years, the mission of the Center evolved into an umbrella agency providing a variety of services. In 1974, a name change was made as new programs were added. The corporation became the Human Service Agency. This included ATCO, an adjustment training center for individuals with developmental disabilities. In 1978, Kampeska Homes programs and assets were merged with the Human Service Agency. These residential services combined with the existing day activities of ATCO.
