Hunger Project strategies seek to build people's capacities, leadership and confidence. We train women and men, equipping them with the skills, methods and knowledge needed to take self-reliant actions to improve their lives and conditions in their communities. Our aim is to overcome the deep resignation people in the developing world often find themselves in as a result of failed development initiatives. The Hunger Project urges people not to wait to be rescued, but to take action now to meet their basic needs. The first step is the Vision, Commitment and Action Workshop (VCAW).

The Hunger Project-Netherlands was founded in 1980 and has been a successful organization since then. The official office has existed since 2004 and has been on a strong grow path since. The yearly income of The Hunger Project- Netherlands has been growing substantially. In 2012 The Hunger Project-Netherlands increased fundraising to 3.1 million (+32%).

Panchayati raj refers to India's local democracy, based on elected local councils known as panchayats. The 73rd amendment to India's constitution, passed in 1993, mandates local elections every five years and reserves one-third of all seats for women. Beginning in 2000, The Hunger Project seized this historic opportunity. Our Panchayati Raj Campaign is a multi-pronged strategy that has, to date, empowered more than 80,000 elected women representatives to be effective change agents for the end of hunger in their villages.

The Hunger Project-Switzerland is registered as an association according to article 60 of the Swiss Civil Code and was founded in 1983.
