Description

PROJECT TITLE : Hydraulic Study for Lok Kawi Land Reclamation, Sabah, Malaysia CLIENT : Sunduvon Corporation Sdn. Bhd. DURATION : August 1992 - February 1993 PROJECT DESCRIPTION MIKE21 modelling carried out to find the optimum layout for reclamation of about 220 hectares of land about 20 km southwest of Kota Kinabalu, state capital of Sabah. The best layout being that which causes the least impact to the hydraulic regime around the site. The assessment of erosion and sedimentation patterns before and after reclamation was studied along with the selection of the platform level and the most suitable form of coastal protection. PROJECT TITLE : Agricultural Drainage Scheme, Mukim Jeram Batu, Pontian, Johore, Malaysia CLIENT : Department of Irrigation & Drainage, Johore, Malaysia DURATION : September 1992 - May 1993 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The design of tidal control gates, creek closures, levee, collector drains, internal secondary drains, farm roads, bridges and gate-keeper quarters for flood protection of agricultural land. The application of MIKE11 for testing various design alternatives, especially for unsteady tidal control gate hydraulics. PROJECT TITLE : Hydraulic Study for Tg. Tokong Land Reclamation, Penang, Malaysia CLIENT : Pengurusan Lebuhraya Bhd. DURATION : October 1992 - February 1993 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The use of MIKE21 modelling software to determine the best reclamation layout (between conventional and island systems of reclamation) which includes the provision of a breakwater system for about 980 acres of land on the northeastern part of Penang. Movement of suspended particles within the vicinity of the project area was also modelled. PROJECT TITLE : Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) & Design for Perlis Land Reclamation, Perlis, Malaysia CLIENT : Perlis Land Sdn. Bhd. DURATION : October 1992 - December 1992 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The preparation of an EIA report for the proposed 500 acres reclamation within the Straits of Malacca near Kuala Perlis which included hydraulic modelling. The design of the offshore land reclamation which includes fill material, soil improvement, coastal protection, drainage and soil investigation was also carried out. PROJECT TITLE : Feasibility Study for Reclamation Works at the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia CLIENT : Public Works Department (JKR), Malaysia DURATION : January 1993 - September 1993 PROJECT DESCRIPTION The preparation of an EIA report and a hydraulic study for the proposed reclamation of about 7000 acres of land on the eastern and southern coasts of Labuan Island, the only International Offshore Financial Centre in Malaysia. The hydraulic report detailed a geotechnical assessment, flood mitigation (using MIKE11), hydraulic modelling for optimum reclamation layout and nearshore sediment transport utilising the MIKE21 and LITPACK modelling software. The preliminary design of coastal protection works for the reclamation was also made.
