Description
This User Group was started in 1990 by six individuals wishing to learn more about computers. Most of the original six are still active members in the group. Prior to starting the user group, we met at each other's houses where we taught each other based on a person's specialty with computers. Those meetings led us to looking for a meeting place so that more people could get this learning advantage. We asked the Brentwood Public Library for meeting space where we could get the community involved in our project. As the years went on we upgraded our computer equipment to be able to show the latest products. The Icon PC User Group started as IBM/Compatible Users Of New York and has evolved to the current name. At this time we have grown from the original 6 members to over 200 members today.
