Ice Energy is an energy sector company with products that address Demand Side Management, Energy Storage and Peak Shifting for commercial buildings ranging from small fast food restaurant chains to big box retailers. The company’s initial target market also includes elementary schools, branch banks and military bases.Ice Energy, Inc. is a values based company and was formed for the purpose of developing, manufacturing, and marketing, standard Distributed Energy Storage systems for use with central air conditioners on small- to medium-sized commercial and residential buildings. The company is operating under an exclusive patent assignment agreement with Powell Energy Products, Inc. The assignment includes the patents, productization plans, trade secrets and intellectual property rights for an invention known as the Ice Bear. The Ice Bear has received a favorable technical evaluation by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and has completed the commercial validation and product preparation stage as defined under the New Product Engineering Stages of Development. Twelve Beta units have been field tested in eight states, and laboratory performance tests were monitored by Electric Testing Laboratories (ETL). The field trials were sponsored by participating electric utilities and conducted by Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Tennessee Valley Authority, and The Energy Center of Wisconsin under the guidance of the U.S. Department of Energy.To unleash the off-peak potential of the nation’s electrical grid and to serve the public good by reducing air pollution and mitigating the economic burden of meeting peak power demand.
