Description
DataNOW began in 1974 as Idaho Computer Services (ICS). ICS was then a subsidiary of Computerized Farming, a service company dedicated to scientific, computer-based agriculture and the agri-business community. In February of 1979, five employees purchased ICS, making it an independent company.
Series 3 platform. Faced with yet another overhaul, ICS acquired a Hewlett Packard (HP) e3000 minicomputer. The e3000 quickly became the foundation for all ICS software. Before long, ICS established itself as a leading provider of e3000 business applications in the West. Today, DataNOW continues to support many clients still on the e3000.
On November 14, 2001, HP suddenly announced the discontinuation of the e3000 product line ( see the press release ). After 20 years of outstanding service and reliablility, ICS was sorry to see the e3000 legacy draw to a end. Even so, ICS had already responded to the market demand for a more user-friendly graphical interface and Microsoft Windows-based software. By the time HP decided to discontinue the e3000, ICS had Windows front-ends for its e3000 applications, and development for full Windows versions was already underway.
