The Bluegrass Chapter, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is small in size with an average of about 50 members, but our chapter has grown large in stature among our peers of the International Facility Management Association. We have an outstanding reputation for innovation in chapter management practices and have championed the best practice of using a team approach for educational programming. We are proud to be the 1998 recipient of the IFMA Small Chapter Award for Excellence in Educational Programming which recognized our outstanding contributions to the facility management profession and the development of IFMA. We are also the recipients of the 2001 Small Chapter of the Year Award. This is an honor that we are still awe struck about receiving! The success of the Bluegrass Chapter is directly related to the long-term involvement of our dedicated members. We are fortunate to have on our roster an IFMA Distinguished Member Award winner, Joanne Anderson. Joanne is one of the founding members of the Bluegrass Chapter and was recently recognized nationally by becoming an IFMA Fellow. Joanne was also one of the first of our membership to become a Certified Facility Manager and continues to encourage others to work towards this certification. Joanne's chapter experience and guidance over the years has contributed to the growth and development of our chapter and she is fondly referred to both far and wide as Mother IFMA.
