In-Gear Transmissions was incorporated in 1999 by ASE certified owner Ross Smith. Originally located at 116 Davis St in Douglas MA, Ross and his staff quickly gained a reputation for prompt, honest work at an affordable price.

Always having a passion for American musclecars and street machines, and owning musclecars since he was able to drive, many performance vehicle owners knew Ross and began taking their vehicles to In-Gear. Word quickly traveled amongst local gearheads and In-Gear became one of the only shops in the area performance vehicle enthusiasts trusted thier vehicles at. In 2005, with In-Gear's reputation firmly established, the small garage was simply too small to accomodate the business. A new modern facility was erected on the current location at 151 Davis St in Douglas MA. WIth three lifts and two additional bays in the new building, In-Gear has been able to expand and take on projects which the former building could not accomodate. These include building resto-mods, and hand fabricating any part or piece to make the car perform as the customer wishes. Doing custom work and needing parts for customer's project cars, Ross found himself calling mail order and online retailers to order parts. This led to higher prices, downtime on projects and delays on the customer's end. Soon Ross realized he could order parts directly from the manufacturers and pass the savings onto his valued customers.

In-Gear is a full service and repair facility specializing in every aspect of transmission service and general repair as well as custom and specialty work.
