The original Portland In Your Home business was founded in 2003 by Brian Bartholomew and David Dickinson as an innovative Aging-in-Place focused business dedicated to developing practical, affordable and stylish accessibility solutions. It all started from a conversation they had as Brian was helping his mother move out of the family home and get it ready for sale. We recognized that not every family would have the time or ability to handle the deferred maintenance and make the needed updates—a glimpse of the wide range of ways that aging and our built environments are intertwined.

In Your Home was founded in 2003 with the goal of creating more beautiful, safer home environments that support people of all abilities. Our clients come from all walks of life and turn to us for our creative ideas and superior service quality.

From sturdier railings to wider doors, ramps to walk-in tubs, even elevators, In Your Home can help you solve most any accessibility issue. We provide affordable but effective solutions to general livability issues.

Both also have the University of California ’s Executive Certification in Home Modifications along with over 20 years of prior experience building strong, industry leading service businesses.

With her experience in remodeling and maintaining rental properties, Kim realized an aptitude for this line of work. Wanting to pursue a career she was passionate about, Kim started looking into the thing that for such a long time had been in the back of her mind; Home Accessibility. Kim knew that establishing a business that provided knowledgeable, trustworthy solutions for what people really wanted and needed was what she was intended to do. Finding the right partner who shared her vision was the key to making this vision a reality. When Kim found In Your Home, she knew it was meant to be.
