IncuMED’s interest and motivation are directly aligned with those of our inventor-partners. At the heart of IncuMED’s business is the device inventor (typically surgeons or engineers) who enters into a partnership with IncuMED to design, iterate, test and evaluate the product concept. IncuMED provides the funding for all projects, which includes full in-house product development, intellectual property filings and development, and business expertise to manage the project to completion. The inventor is awarded equity in a newly formed seed company in return for the product concept and his/her continued involvement through the project. Upon culmination of the project, IncuMED will then negotiate the equity sale of the seed company with the shareholders sharing in profits from the transaction. In some cases, if the perceived value of the opportunity is more significant, IncuMED will assist in securing additional financing to maximize the financial return through the expansion of the seed entity into a traditional venture-backed startup company.
