Investment Process Insight uses a disciplined three-step process in seeking to identify companies with superior earnings growth rates, fundamentals, and stock price performance trends. The process starts by running a series of proprietary quantitative screens against the universe of stocks traded on the NYSE, ASE and Nasdaq-approximately 8,000 companies. This step searches for stocks that have outstanding price performance characteristics (alpha) with acceptable levels of risk (standard deviation) within each strategy. The 500 stocks with the highest modified Sharpe ratio are then subject to fundamental analysis. The goal is to identify high quality growth companies. Insight looks for companies with some of the following characteristics: exceptional growth in both sales and earnings; high return on equity (ROE); low debt; strong management; increasing cash flow; and a competitive edge in a rapidly developing industry. Approximately 100 companies will meet these fundamental criteria. The final step in the process is to analyze the stock price performance of these remaining companies over a variety of time periods. Typically, stocks must show superior price performance to be eligible for the portfolio buy list.
