The Institute of the Americas is an independent, inter-American organization that promotes cooperation between the public and private sectors to improve economic, political and social well-being across the Americas. Founded in 1983 as an impartial, non-profit organization the Institute has focused its efforts in five program areas: energy, journalism, community & border relations, trade, and China-Americas relations. The Institute hosts roundtables and professional workshops at its home on the campus of the University of California, San Diego, and throughout Latin America.
