Description
Evaluation and Diagnostic Services IDS provides play-based, low stress assessments by a licensed clinical professional. Diagnostic Evaluations for autism are done using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, and play for individuals who have been referred because of a possible autism spectrum disorder. Additional standardized parent report measures are also used. Assessment information is collected via direct observation as well as parent interviews, and includes an evaluation of skills and challenges in a variety of areas. Outpatient Mental Health Our certified mental health clinic provides individual, group and family therapy for clients with a variety of mental health diagnosis and psychosocial difficulties. Our licensed mental health clinicians provide services in our clinic, utilizing play therapy and cognitive-behavioral treatment strategies. Our goals are to help children gain skills they need to navigate successfully through life, and to equip families to meet the daily challenges of parenting. Our clinicians specialize in working with children diagnosed with anxiety and depression and have a full understanding of the unique experiences of families raising a child with special needs. Group Programs IDS offers clinic-based group programs, which are designed to help children gain skills for positive peer interaction. Social Skill groups are led by licensed mental health clinicians and include about 6 children, matched for age and skill level. Each child has individualized goals and receives support and coaching to address specific social difficulties, such as social anxiety. Agency Training All members of the IDS clinical team are experienced trainers who have worked with schools, child care centers, early intervention programs, law enforcement agencies, recreation centers, church groups, and other community agencies. They can provide trainings on autism, communication development, special education, parent advocacy, inclusion, behavior management, and a range of other topics related to children and youth with special needs. We can work with your agency to customize a training program that fits your specific needs.
