InterMed Technologies is committed to researching technology and the health care industry, and applying our knowledge by developing easy to use software tools for the medical market. The gradual weakening of the bones, known as osteoporosis, is caused by the effects of aging, disease and certain medications. Many of those with osteoporosis do not know that their bones are thinning at an alarming rate. By the time the effects are noticed, it is usually due to a broken bone from a seemingly insignificant fall. This disease, however, is treatable, and often even reversible if diagnosed early on. One means of diagnosis is through the use of bone density scans. One of our goals is to help educate physicians in the detection, treatment, and prevention of this debilitating and sometimes deadly disease. This includes making the public aware that getting a baseline bone density study is a necessity. In an effort to provide increased productivity tools in the medical market, and increasing the market through education of physicians, patients and the general public, we have developed reporting software for bone density scanners. Our software product, dxaWriter (tm), helps fills a need in the area of osteoporosis by providing consistent, easy to read bone densitometry reports. It uses bone density studies taken from bone densitometers and converts the data into text easily understood by both referring physicians and patients.
