Who is INTERCAT? We are an interactive/multimedia company specializing in stand-alone, downloadable, interactive catalogs. What is an interactive catalog? Basically, it is like a printed catalog except that it is an electronic version of the catalog and is viewed with a computer. Since it is basically software, it can be downloaded from any remote location - like a website on the World Wide Web. What can we do? Most companies with catalogs have already spent a lot of money making the catalog. Within the catalog are products that the company may want to showcase. We have the ability to digitize images, logos, and text directly from the catalog. But other companies can scan too, what's so special about INTERCAT? Yes, other companies can scan too, but it takes more than just scanning to take images from a printed catalog to an electronic medium. Specific image processing techniques must be applied in order to display the image correctly on an electronic medium. We have the capabilities to take the images directly from a currently existing PRINTED catalog and reproduce it exactly in an electronic medium without any special work being done such as getting film made or slides or high-resolution prints. This saves in both time and money. Okay, but I can get the same information in a good slide show, what else can INTERCAT do? We are also an INTERACTIVE, MULTI-MEDIA company. This means that we have the capabilities to add audio and full-motion/full-color video clips to any electronic catalog. Easy, user-friendly "buttons" on our electronic catalogs help guide a user through the catalog, thus making browsing both easy and fun. The combination of audio, video, and user-friendly "buttons" can help you present your product or idea more effectively, thus producing more sales. Well, I've seen other multi-media catalogs with software such as DIRECTOR. What does INTERCAT do that's so different? There are many commercial multi-media software available. However most of them require that you install a software "viewer" on your computer before you can view the "data" in the catalog. Without the viewer, you cannot view the catalog. Also, some multi-media software require complicated and cumbersome installation procedures. Most of us have had experience with installing software that appears to have "installed" correctly, only to find out with tremendous disappointment that one or two of our multi-media "drivers" are not compatible with the software when we try and run the application. An INTERCAT produced interactive electronic catalog solves both of these vexing problems. A built-in "viewer" automatically detects your video card and configures your computer for optimum viewing. An auto-install feature of all electronic catalogs temporarily installs all necessary software in your hard-drive for viewing and then removes the software when you're finished - thus leaving your computer in the same original configuration as when it was installed. In layman's terms, it does not leave software debris that may cause "system problems" in the future.
