Interpool Overview Interpool, Inc. originally founded in 1968 is one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and services to the transportation industry. With a chassis fleet of 208,000 units and a container fleet of 808,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU's) with a utilization rate in excess of 97% as of December 31, 2004, Interpool is the largest lessor of intermodal container chassis in the United States and a world leading lessor of intermodal dry freight standard containers used in international trade. We lease our chassis and containers to over 600 shipping and transportation companies throughout the world, including nearly all of the world's 25 largest international container shipping lines and major North American railroads. The customers for our chassis include a large number of domestic lessees, many of which are domestic subsidiaries or branches of international shipping lines to which we also lease containers. With a network of offices and agents covering major ports in the United States, Europe and the Far East, we have been able to supply containers in nearly all locations requested by our customers.Leasing companies own a significant portion of North America's chassis and of the world's container fleet and we believe the balance is owned predominantly by shipping lines and railroads. Leasing companies have maintained this market position because container shipping lines and railroads receive both financial and operational benefits by leasing a portion of their equipment.
