Inventive Productions LLC is a team of dedicated filmmakers who have pioneered the new Video Biography industry. Ten years ago, award-winning filmmaker RJ McHatton took his young son, Jason, to see his grandfather's grave. Jason immediately asked, "Tell me about him, Dad." RJ struggled to explain his father's life to his son and soon realized that he needed something more powerful than words to explain his father's full history. He wished he had sat his father down in front of his camera and interviewed him on video. Jason would have then been able hear his grandfather's voice telling his own stories, experience his contagious laughter and see, first hand, what an affectionate character he truly was. Inspired by his son's question, RJ started shooting and recording history for Genealogical Societies, Hospices and Habitat for Humanity on a voluntary basis. He soon understood the extraordinary importance of preserving each person's history in their own words and in their own voice on video. In 2005, RJ decided to go full time with his passion and with the help of Bill Peare and Jeff Sites, Inventive Productions LLC, "the autobiography company" was born. Here is RJ and his daughter Crissy on a location shoot.
