Irene Corey Design Associates was founded in 1983. Irene Corey, backed by national and international recognition for her theatrical designs, decided it was time to tackle something new.She teamed up with her niece, Suzanne Lockridge to form ICDA. Together they began their imaginative journey into the world of foam character costumes, three dimensional company logos, and walk-around body puppets. Now, with a client roster ranging from national restaurant chains to feature film productions, ICDA has expanded to include a staff of highly qualified designers and artisans. Everyone has extensive costume experience backed by college degrees in related fields of study. We have a passion for what we do. Combined with our zest for detail and quality, we work as a team committed to fabricating the best creature possible. We see every assignment as a challenge.Irene Corey's designs have influenced the theater world for many generations. The look of more than one long-running production has been derived from her two widely used books, The Mask of Reality: An Approach to Design for Theater, and The Face is a Canvas. Her pioneering animal makeup and original style still make their way into the theatre world. Her costume and makeup designs for The Book of Job, inspired by Byzantine mosaics, have been featured in many major publications. Job ran for two decades as an outdoor production and has toured in the U.S. and Europe. It was seen on the BBC and South America. Romans by St. Paul, with her giant "carved" saints, appeared on CBS and in a cathedral tour of England. Her splendid animals romped through the race of The Tortoise and the Hare at the Venice Biennial, England, South Africa, and the U.S.
