Sabira Woolley and Ron Nathan are the founders & lead steel drum players of ISLAND FEVER. They have traveled extensively, gaining a deep appreciation of music from many cultures, & developing their versatility. They went to the West Indies to study the music of the steel drum & the culture from which it developed. In Trinidad & in the U.S., Sabira and Ron had the opportunity to learn from the source, meeting & befriending some of the people who actually developed the steel pan & are considered masters of the instrument today.Sabira Woolley (Steel Drum, Vocals, Guitar, 5 String Banjo, Washboard, Percussion) Born on the exotic, sun drenched island of Coronado, Sabira has toured throughout California, the Caribbean, Western Canada, Mexico & Hawaii performing in numerous Concerts, Expositions, Cruise Ships, Night Clubs, Musicals, Street Theatre Troupes, Wholistic Celebrations, Ecological events, & Benefits. She has been featured on TV shows including a PBS concert special & a spot on P.M. Magazine. Her original music has received airplay on local radio stations. Sabira has written, recorded & performed compositions for special events, awareness workshops, meditation tapes & instructional videos. She is currently doing research for a book on the history of the steel drum. Visit Sabira on Myspace Ron Nathan (Steel Drum, Keyboards, Piano, Sax, Vocals, MC) has toured & shared the stage with many noted musicians, including Jose' Feliciano, The Platters, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, & Stan Kenton. Four appearances on the Tonight Show, & spots on the Merv Griffen, John Davidson, Toni Tennielle, & many other broadcasts have earned him notoriety among his peers. A California native, Ron studied music in depth at California Colleges & Universities, with advanced training in classical & jazz genres.
