Joy is originally from the other ‘SC’, Southern California. Her father, a retired Navy Corpsman, was born and raised in the Charleston area so his ties gave Joy the opportunity to spend countless summers visiting family and exploring the lowcountry. It was these experiences during her formative years that drew her back to Charleston in 2008 to raise her children in Mount Pleasant. Joy attended San Diego State University and entered the property management profession following college. The industry has been a natural fit for Joy’s talents and she has gained experience in different aspects of the field throughout her 15 year tenure in the industry. Upon moving to Mount Pleasant, Joy obtained her South Carolina Property Management License and joined the team at Exit Realty where she managed both annual and vacation rentals. Following the merger of Exit Realty and Island Realty, Joy accepted the position of bookkeeper for the Vacation Rental program at Island Realty. Serving as bookkeeper provided invaluable operational experience, but Joy took the opportunity to return to property management in Annual Rentals at Island Realty in early 2014.
