Enter Jellio—a furniture company devoted to making fun, retro-inspired products. Like the shelf modeled after 3-D glasses, the chandelier made of 14,500 acrylic gummy bears (cleverly called the Candelier), or my personal favorite, the bench shaped like an ice cream sandwich. The only downside is how often you'll crave gummy bears and ice cream. (As if you don't already.) The company was founded in 2005 by Mario Marsicano and Chris Lenox. At first, Marsicano began collecting vintage toys from his childhood, and then embedded them in Lucite tables for display. When his friends started asking about getting their own toy tables, Marsicano founded Jellio. The company has greatly expanded in the eight years since its founding: With the help of production manager Kevin Champeny, they’ve produced custom furniture for Madame Tussauds wax museum in Times Square, the set of Nickelodeon’s iCarly, Google and Discovery Communications, among others. In addition to their custom work, they offer some smaller pieces on their website.
