JSR Associates, Inc. offers continuing education programs, workshops and focus groups. These programs can satisfy continuing education credits for design professionals and manufacturers. Educational programs include presentations on Aging and Aging in Design. JSR also conducts educational programs about Sustainability in Relationship to the Health Care and Senior Living Projects. Typical clients would be design organizations, trade organizations, academic institutions, manufacturers of healthcare products, and senior living and healthcare organizations.

Pre-Design Services: Boulder City This is a proposed retirement campus model for Boulder City, Nevada. It is designed to provide cost-effective living options, such as continuing care while aging in place, and other related services to seniors. In cooperation with Boulder City Senior Housing Services, Inc., and the City of Boulder City, we are striving to accommodate an under-served demographic—Boulder City residents with an annual income of $25,000 to $50,000. The goal is to provide a minimum of four units with a sliding scale for incomes under $25,000.

Access Table Design The Access Table came about after interacting with senior residents living in a nursing home and observing the lack of a true dining experience. Instead of seeing an enjoyable event, I watched as my friend, Miriam donned in an undignified full length bib, struggle with her left hand to get soup from her bowl to her mouth as she sat in her wheelchair. It was time for a paradigm shift. For many years, the solution to adjustable table height was to raise and lower the base of a table. My experience told me otherwise.

JSR Associates, Inc. is a senior living consulting firm founded in 1996 by Jane Rohde, Principal. At that time it was clear that there was a gap between senior living operations, resident care models, and the built environment. JSR has sought to fill that gap for clients, who include non-profit and for-profit providers, developers, and government agencies. JSR’s strengths lie in strategic master planning, creative care modeling, focus groups, sustainable building practices, programming based upon workshops with integrated teams, and appropriate design for seniors, families, and staff.
