In 2004, James Davis moved from New York City to Malmö, Sweden with his Swedish wife. He continues to photograph on location, ranging from New York, to South Beach. FL to Sweden, or wherever the assignment might take him. Born and raised in South Carolina, USA, he moved to New York City at an early age. James' vivacious enthusiasm for photography began developing soon thereafter. He studied Fashion Photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Photo Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After completing his studies at these prestigious art schools, James refined his talent by working for a top photographer in New York City. James began his freelancing career in the 80’s and his specialties are people, fashion and portraits. His most recent work was published in Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Magazine. He has also photographed amongst others, the celebrities Andy Warhol, Marvin Gaye, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. In addition, he photographs editorial-style journalistic weddings, see www.journalisticweddings.net James has exhibited his art work in several galleries throughout the years, most recently in SOHO and Chelsea, NYC. He expresses most of his art work on black and white film. James’ primary objective is to enable any individual to appreciate and embrace photographic art as an important and necessary part of life.
