Description
Founded in 1942, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The NRECA Board of Directors oversees the association’s activities and consists of more than 900 member cooperatives who serve 40 million people in 47 states. NRECA has always been an advocate for consumer-owned cooperatives on energy and operational issues as well as rural community and economic development.
The National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) represents the advanced telecommunications and information technology interests of more than 1,400 rural utilities and affiliates in 47 states. Founded in 1986, NRTC provides products and services developed specifically to meet the needs of rural utilities and their customers, such as high-speed Internet access via satellite, full service Internet access and support, wireless technologies, long distance programs, mobile phone service, IP broadband backbone services, and direct broadcast satellite service (DBS) with DIRECTV.
Formed in 1969, the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) is a member-owned financial institution that provides state-of-the-art financial products to its approximately 1,050 electric cooperative members located in 49 states, District of Columbia, and three U.S. territories. CFC is the premier private-market lender for the nation's electric cooperatives. It is an independent source of financing that supplements the credit programs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS).
Our Mission Statement Jasper County REMC exists to provide reliable electric service to our members and meet their collective energy needs. We are committed to member satisfaction, service excellence and being a responsible citizen in our community.
Rural Electrification Administration (REA), Jasper County REMC was incorporated in March of 1938. Our first pole was set in May of 1939 and our cooperative was energized July 20, 1939 with 136 member/owners enjoying the many benefits of electric power. Since our inception, Jasper County REMC has been an integral part of the local economy and welfare of our communities through our commitment to volunteer efforts, safety presentations and through our support of local organizations and activities.
