Description
Jennifer Edwards is a Cultural Critic, Author / Essayist, Curator, Choreographer, Master Teacher, and the founder of JenEd Productions. She is fascinated by applied self-awareness, the body-mind connection, kinesthetic intelligence, sociology, and neurobiology as they relate to the human experience. Edwards‘ stress reduction teaching was featured in the New York Times and she writes for the Living, Politics, and Arts sections of the Huffington Post . Ms. Edwards is a spokes person for the American Heart Association and leads workshops for a wide variety of institutions including Columbia University Medical Center and NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Trained by world-renoun teachers: Maa Parvathi Nath Saraswati and Master Derek O’Neill, Ms. Edwards teaches integrated balance, self-awareness, and health-care techniques. Her forthcoming media-rich E-book, Your Everyday Body, will be released by Heliotrope Books and Vook in winter 2011. A former college professor of dance and choreography and an internationally touring performer, poet, and writer, Edwards holds an MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her poetry as garnered her a Just Palin Folks nomination, a Fresh Fruit Award and an Indy Girl Music Award. Ms. Edwards was a founding member of, the now disbannded dance company, Choreographers Ink, a Sister Spit slam champion and has graced the stages of venues including the Knitting Factory (NYC), Club One (Monteal), Anna’s Bananas (Honolulu), The Black Cat (DC), The Nuyorica Poets Cafe (NYC), and Bowery Poets Club (NYC). She has shown movement pieces in New York venues including the Joyce SoHo, Dixon Place, and PS 122. Work in site-specific pieces ranges from dancing in the 4th-floor windows of Grand Central Station to performing theater in the streets of Shanghai, China. Edwards’ work is bound together by her passion for exploring the connections between human beings and the worlds we inhabit: physical, cultural, mental, emotional, spiritual, and inter-personal.
