Longview, TX –Johnson & Pace is pleased to announce the addition of Richard Tuck, AIA, RID, a registered architect and interior designer with 15 years of experience. Mr. Tuck received his degree from Texas A & M and has worked in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for the last 10 years. His previous work experience includes prototypical and site-specific architectural services for numerous restaurants and retail establishments, as well as master planning/site design, facility design, and other architectural services related to golf resorts, ranging in size from 1,200 acres to 4,000 acres. Johnson & Pace would also like to congratulate Project Engineer Jon Maglott, a 2007 engineering graduate of LeTourneau University, who recently completed testing for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and is now certified as an Engineer-in-Training. He will complete his internship in Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Charles Thomson, PE. October 20, 2007 Longview, TX –Preliminary design work for what county and city officials are calling a multi-purpose coliseum has started, and plans for the estimated $18.5 million facility could be presented to the community within three months. Longview Assistant City Manager Chuck Ewings said Johnson & Pace, an architectural group from Longview, has been hired to begin the initial design work. The local firm is teaming with Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford, a Dallas-based architectural firm, to complete the center's design within a 60-to 90-day period. The center most likely will be built adjacent to the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, Ewings said. Though a joint venture between the city and county, cost of the design work-$1.2 million-will be paid by the city. The funds were set aside in the city's 2007-08 budget from funds generated from early debt retirement. Ewings said it was too early to know how large the coliseum would be, but seating is expected to be between 4,000 and 7,500 people - large enough to accomodate a variety of events including dog shows, basketball games, rodeos, concert events, and possibly even an ice hockey team. "Hopefully, this will be something that will provide entertainment options for residents of the county and also attract tourists," Ewings said. In February, a community-resident group charged with identifying city bond election projects that would be presented to voters in May, opted not to include the multi-purpose center because of the cost. In early spring, Mayor Jay Dean went to county commissioners with a resolution signed by mayors from all municipalities of the community.
