(York, NE) - The Board of Directors of Central Valley Ag Cooperative (CVA) and United Farmers Cooperative (UFC) met July 1 to ratify the votes cast by their respective member-owners approving the merger of the two companies effective September 1, 2014. Each cooperative's membership voted on the merger proposal, with Nebraska law requiring 2/3 of the votes cast to favor the proposal in order to be ratified. Accounting firm Gardiner Thomsen certified that the owners of both cooperatives overwhelmingly approved the merger proposal.

West Point - Cuming County has launched a new program to help county residents deal with the high cost of prescription medications. Through a partnership with the National Association of Counties (NACo), the free Prescription Discount Card program provides area residents with a card that is saving consumers across the country an average of 24 percent off the retail price of prescription medications. County officials says the card has many benefits. It is easy to get one and can be used by those who do not have insurance or by those who have prescriptions not covered by insurance.
