Margaret Whiting Exhibit – “Laws of the Land” (Misc) Location: 225 North Gate Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80921 Opening: Thursday, September 23; 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.September 24-December 30; 9:00a.m. - 4:00p.m.Opening September 23, Laws of the Land will exhibit work by artist Margaret Whiting! Margaret Whiting explores contemporary issues related to land use and encourages thoughtful consideration of the laws that regulate our relationship to the land by highlighting phrases and words in the text of law books to build new statements. Murray Blvd. (at Constitution) Call 649-1857 or e-mail: moore.jeff06@gmail.com U.S. Secret Service Agent to discuss identity theft (Community Event) Location: Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano A U.S. Secret Service Special Agent will be the featured speaker at a free presentation on identity theft Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano.The special agent will address ways local residents can protect themselves from identity theft.Purpose Planning of Colorado Springs is hosting the event, which will also include light appetizers and refreshments. The event will be free, but those interested in attending must RSVP with Estelle by 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 by calling (719) 590-4110. (Event time will be provided upon making RSVP.) Farmers' Market (Festival) Time: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Location: Western Museum of Mining and Industry Open every Monday and Wednesday through October. Fresh vegetables from local Pueblo farms, breads, meats and more. Look for vendors in front of the red house. Guests visiting the museum get the opportunity to see operable steam engines, learn how to gold pan, see a recreated mine drift, play with hands-on exhibits, and catch a glimpse of the pioneer lifestyle. There are over 27 acres to explore at the Museum, with picnic grounds and two very adorable burros. Additional Information Halloween Scavenger Hunt (Kids and Families) Time: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Location: Western Museum of Mining and Industry Kids age 6-12 will have a fun time building a miner’s skeleton as they answer mining trivia questions throughout the museum. Open Monday – Saturday 9:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m., this event will run the entire month of October.
