OUT OF AFRICA - A nicely detailed addition that is a peaceful place to relax on a hot day. The scope of work included the construction of a 420 SF multi purpose room that could be used many days as an outdoor space - taking advantage of breezy days while preventing insects from ruining most gatherings. Originally, the homeowners had desired a renovation of the adjacent kitchen to create a larger entertaining space. The project developed into a completely separate room that could be utilized year round, and was decorated in an inventive manner. The value of a great deal of natural light inspired the Architect to create a room full of windows, thus affording excellent cross ventilation during most days. The room also has a set of French Doors which open onto a deck leading to a large free form pool creating continuity between inside and outside. He wanted to incorporate his specialty and expertise into the overall design of the project with respect to the wood used in the room. The owners also enjoyed finishing the room in a African Provincial style, complete with furniture and decorations reminiscent of the African Plains.
