I have been intimately involved with landscape since my early days sketching the landscape around my childhood home in the north of England. A journey of 35 years with a sketch book and camera through landscape design, fine art, galleries and gardens in England, France, Italy and Spain and Mexico brought me to Northern California in the mid 1980's. I have measured, drawn, painted, photographed, designed, built and managed landscapes and gardens of all kinds. Photography was a way to express a personal landscape aesthetic. The ordinary, when looked at with open eyes, became a door into the extra ordinary that could inspire creation. Photography is a form that sensitizes, refines and nourishes my visual perception, increasing my appreciation of color, form and light around me, increasing my desire to be present to every moment. It starts with presence and returns to presence. The inner beauty of flowers has become a window into nature present right before our eyes. Emotions, landscapes and worlds of lush sensuality, refined perfection and harmony are revealed just out of our ordinary view. My current search is for images of sustainability, landscapes that posess not only beauty, but speak of an enduring relationship with nature and a harmonious life connected to the earth. These images I hope will be guide and reminder of a way to live. It is with great pleasure and the strong desire to continue with this wonderful work that I share these images with you.
