Fully staffed by a Doctor of Pharmacy and pharmacy residents from partnering universities (CommuniRes.com) patients here were able to access screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, PSA, peripheral artery disease, skin damage, plus programs for smoking cessation, weight loss, asthma management, and more.With its growing reputation as a leader in health partnerships, Kerr became involved in the nationally recognized Asheville Project (www.pharmacist.com/articles). That project resulted in the development of a thriving diabetes patient care service in community pharmacies, with city employees and retirees experiencing increased health levels, lower healthcare costs, and fewer missed work days. Following that program’s huge success, Kerr proceeded to stretch the boundaries of community health care even further.
