Description

Kev Brockschmidt has been a professional illustrator and designer for over 20 years working for such clients as Gibbs-Smith, Nintendo, Wizards of the Coast, Starlog, Reader's Digest and King Features Syndicate. His specialty is humorous illustration that is colorful & dynamic with a zany edge. He prides himself on creating images with tight, balanced compositions and precision line-work & coloring. He also holds a degree in graphic design and worked for several years as the Creative Director for a large internet company. His experience includes traditional techniques as well as digital art, animation and web site development. He currently resides in Kent, Washington with his wife Tami and their four children - Sarah Joy, Joshua, Cory and Aaron. He has a 2nd Degree Black Belt and has taught Tae Kwon Do. He enjoys singing and playing various instruments including acoustic, electric & bass guitars and keyboard. He's currently teaching himself to play drums. His other pastimes include computer gaming, vegetable gardening, sailing, and traveling to tropical locales whenever possible.

Kev Wins the Golden Toonie Award March 29, 2004 - Kent artist Kevin Brockschmidt was honored by fellow artists as the Northwest cartoonist of the year during a Seattle awards banquet on Saturday, March 27. Brockschmidt received Cartoonists Northwest's highest honor, the Golden Toonie, for a career that's included stints as a newspaper editorial cartoonist, commercial artist, magazine gag cartoonist & illustrator, trading card artist, and web site designer. This is the 13th year that a Golden Toonie has been awarded. Past winners include some of the Northwest¹s finest and most celebrated artists: Brian Basset, Berkeley Breathed, Steve Greenberg, Dave Horsey, Lynn Johnston and Jim Woodring. Cartoonists Northwest is a group of local cartoonists which has been meeting every month in Seattle for over 20 years. In 2003, received the National Joseph Werner American Spirit Award.
