Description

Friends of Bicentennial Park is committed to upholding the goals for which this wild park was created. Click here for the most recent agenda for the Far North Bicentennial Park Trail Users Committee. The Committee usually meets at 6:20pm the first Monday of the month at the Campbell Creek Science Center. Everyone is welcome! Anchorage Parks Plan Update When completed, this update of the Anchorage Bowl Parks Plan will provide minimum standards for levels of services and facilities that will provide a more fair allocation of services to meet identified community shortfalls. The plan will also provide management guidelines, acquisition priorities, Capital Improvement Program and an implementation strategies for the Anchorage Bowl. In addition, future plans such as the planned Update to the Far North Bicentennial Park Plan and a Section 36 plan will be based on this document. The Draft Plan was released in early 2005. While it acknowledges broad support for wild open space, trails and undeveloped park land, its heavy emphasis on comparisons with "benchmark" cities and their parks drags the report towards a bias for developed parks and buildings and the huge costs that come with them.
