The Higgs Law Firm has nearly 30 years of legal experience in counseling business clients. We serve as general, outside counsel to dozens of local, national and international businesses that provide a wide variety of goods and services. Mr. Higgs has served on the boards of directors of several corporations and other organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit. We have extensive experience in legal issues concerning corporate management, finance and personnel. The firm serves as Registered Agent for dozens of its corporate clients, usually on a fixed fee basis.

Most business and commercial representation, except for our Registered Agent services, is handled on an hourly fee basis.

The Roanoke Bar Association "Volunteer Service Awards" also earned a 2006 Award of Merit. The RBA recognized 40 of its members for their participation in providing community service, charitable professional services, and pro bono publico legal services through the RBA and through other organizations of their choice. Of those 40 lawyers, 15 were recognized for providing free legal services through Blue Ridge Legal Services. The awards represent over 3,675 hours in community service hours during 2005. We have 30 years of experience in administrative and regulatory matters, with specific experience in administrative law, public contract law, licensing requirements and administrative regulations.

June 17 , 2009 : Steven L. Higgs has accepted an invitation from Virginia Continuing Legal Education and the Virginia Law Foundation to join the Bankruptcy Law Practice Area Advisory Group. The group was established to provide Virginia CLE with consistent feedback on the issues that are most important to Virginia lawyers. The group meets via telephone conference two to three times per year to provide ideas and feedback for future seminar and publication ideas on current bankruptcy issues.
