Tim has both civil and criminal law expertise, and is currently assisting in defending several state and nationwide class actions and contract disputes. Prior to joining KLG he spent over seven years as a staff attorney with the public defender, gaining experience as a first-chair trial attorney for cases ranging from the simplest misdemeanors to the most serious felonies. During his stint as a defender he represented clients in King County and Seattle Municipal courts, and rotated through the adult felony, juvenile, misdemeanor and dependency divisions in the office. He has tried twenty cases to jury verdict and has had several score additional bench trials. He has also worked as an attorney for a small San Francisco firm with a high-level civil practice representing individuals and closely-held companies in cases involving auditor fraud, copyright infringement, legal malpractice and breach of contract issues, and as a law clerk/bailiff for then-Superior Court (now U.S. District Court) Judge Marsha Pechman. Prior to law school Tim spent a number of years as a litigation paralegal at Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco, working on cases involving securities fraud, antitrust, civil rights, immigration, employment discrimination, and breach of contract. He was also fortunate to have been involved in much pro bono work, including being the lead paralegal on the constitutional law case of National Association of Radiation Survivors v. Turnage, representing survivors of the U.S. Government's atomic testing in a nationwide class-action lawsuit that culminated in a two-month trial in federal court. He also played a significant role on the team that successfully obtained political asylum for a black South African who had been a student leader in the 1976 Soweto uprisings. While in law school he was an extern to the Honorable Eugene A. Wright of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in Seattle.
