Description
Kit Carson County is located on the I-70 corridor in East Central Colorado at the Kansas border. Encompassing 2161 square miles, Kit Carson County is among the State's top livestock, wheat and corn producing counties. Founded in 1889, its county seat is located in Burlington Colorado at the Kit Carson County Courthouse.
A coroner is elected for the term of four years. Candidates for the position are encouraged by the General Assembly to possess knowledge and experience in the medical-legal investigation of death. It is also the intent of the General Assembly that those individuals holding this office participate in programs designed to develop and enhance their qualifications in fulfilling the duties and responsibilities associated with the office.
