I grew up right here, within Kitchen Kettle Village, in the very house that is now the Kling House Restaurant. I learned the simple joys of cooking and canning from my mother.When the time came for college, I must have had an adventurous streak. Off to Philadelphia I went, to Drexel University. And just as mom and dad had feared, I met a city boy. Lucky for me, Bob also fell in love with Lancaster County. We moved next door to my folks and began to raise a family. Before long Bob was raising chickens, geese, pheasants, rabbits and even sheep in our little backyard.We built a garage. But before it had even seen a car Bob came home with a real hairbrained scheme. We’d start our own jelly making business. And better yet, we’d start it in our garage with a kitchen range, kettles and a half dozen secret recipes from a lady who was retiring.
